Mobile Legends’ arguably most popular and well loved Filipino live streamer, “Choox” gets featured on GMA 7’s Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho (KMJS) for July 5 episode.
On KMJS Facebook Page, Edgar Dumali, Choox’s real name, shared his hardship in life before he got the taste of success with the help of playing and live-streaming the top multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game in the Philippines. His rags-to-riches story touched many of the netizens, especially his avid followers who supported him back when he was starting.
“Palipat-lipat kami ng tinitirahan noon dahil si Papa iba-ibang trabaho ‘yung pinapasok. May panahon na kamote na lang kinakain namin. Tapos ‘yon, naglayas ako dahil gusto ko lang mag-aral. Pinag-aral ako ni Papa noon, kaso nawili ako sa online games. Pero kailangan kong kumita.”, he remembered.
(“We don’t have permanent house back then because Papa had different jobs most of the time. There’s a time when we only eat sweet potatoes. Then I runaway because I want to study. Papa enrolled me then, but I enjoyed online games. But I need to earn.”)
“Iba’t ibang trabaho pinasok ko. Namasukan ako sa palengke bilang tagahugas ng pinggan. Sumasahod ako dati ng 30 pesos kada araw. Namasukan din ako sa panaderya. Ang pangit doon, pinapatulog kami sa tabi ng mga baboy. Napapaluha ako kapag naaalala ko ‘yung mga pinagdaanan ko.”
(“I entered different jobs. I entered the market as a dishwasher. I used to get paid 30 pesos per day. I also worked in a bakery. It’s awful there, they let us sleep next to pigs. I get teary every time I remember what I’ve been through.”)
“Pero may gusto kasi akong patunayan sa mga kapatid ko. Nagpursigi ako kasi gusto kong patunayan na ‘yung paglalaro ko ng games, mababago ‘yung buhay ko. Kikita talaga ako ng malaking pera. Nag-search ako kung paano mag-online job. Doon ako natutong mag-networking, mag-vlogging, gumawa ng article at website. Ngayon, nakapagpatayo na ako ng bahay para sa pamilya ko!”
(“But I want to prove something to my siblings. I tried to prove that by playing games, my life will change. I will earn big money. I’ve searched how to do an online job. That’s where I learned to do networking, vlogging, creating articles and website. Now, I’ve built a house for my family!”)
