This message is proven in a viral four-minute clip of Miss Universe PH (MUP) candidates as they speak in their mother tongue. The video is well-received by the netizens, which has more than 2.3 million views as of this writing. Aside from English and Tagalog, the Filipina candidates introduced and described the place they represent, as they speak in their local dialect.

The promotional video is kick-off by Miss Cavite, Billie Hakenson. She adorably ends her introduction with the TV Patrol news line “back to you, Ted.” After then are the beautiful ladies speaking in sweet native languages are Miss Universe PH candidates from: Albay, Iloilo, Isabela, Aklan, Baguio, Antique, Zamboanga, Capiz, Catanduanes, Pampanga, Cebu Province, Cebu City, Rizal, La Union, Surigao Del Norte, Davao, City. Leyte, Pangasinan, Batanes, Mandaue, Romblon, and more.

Tagalog speakers added their own twist to the national language including Philippine volleyball star, Michelle Gumabao with her
“Nasa amin ang forever … Commonwealth!”.

There are also popular short lines heard like “Bulacan, ang sarap balik-balikan”, “Tara dine” by Ms. Batangas, and Ms. Manila’s version “Miss Universe etneb-etneb”.

Miss Universe 2011 Third Placer and MUP National Director, Shamcey Supsup said in an interview, “My advice to the girls is just to be proud of where they came from. Sabi ko nga, if you have a dialect or you speak Bisaya, don’t be afraid to speak in Bisaya because we have to be proud of where we came from.”

“Para you know, the youth or the little girls looking up to us will also be proud of where they came from.”
