A 34-year-old cardiologist passed away due to COVID-19. The doctor is Dr. Israel Bactol who contracted the coronavirus in the line of duty. According to a Reddit post, “the cardiologist was infected, among others infected in the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) because their patient lied about their travel history.”
Dr. Bactol finished premed and medical school with scholarships, and eventually became his family’s breadwinner. His friends and medical colleagues share their sympathy on Facebook to his sudden death.
